On September 16, 2025, YouTube released major announcements. It has announced a major expansion of its generative AI capabilities for Shorts creators, unveiling a suite of new tools that use cutting-edge models from Google DeepMind.

Key Features of the New AI Tools :

YouTube’s partnership with Google DeepMind brings a custom version of the powerful video generation model, Veo 3, which will be directly equipped to the Shorts platform. Known as Veo 3 Fast, this tool allows creators to generate short video clips with lower latency at a maximum 480p resolution.

This marks the first time that Shorts creators can produce AI-generated visuals and sound so seamlessly from their mobile devices. The update is initially rolling out in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans for broader expansion.

Advanced Storytelling and Remix Features :

Beyond simple video generation, YouTube is introducing several more powerful creative enhancements, including –

  • Motion Transfer – By it, you can copy movements from one video, add it to your photo, and now your photo can be turned into shorts video with the added motion.
  • AI Styles – By this tool, you can transform your videos with new styles like pop art or origami with a few simple clicks.
  • AI Objects – By it, you can add any object, like a character, prop, or effect, with a simple text description.
  • Speech to Song Tool – It will use Lyria 2, Google DeepMind’s most advanced AI music model, and by it, creators can remix dialogue from eligible videos into catchy soundtracks and customize them with moods like “chill,” “danceable,” or “fun.”

AI Video Editor :

Another highlight is the “Edit with AI” feature, which transforms raw footage on a user’s camera roll into a compelling first draft. This AI tool can intelligently find and arrange your best moments, add music, transitions, and even voice-over on your video in either English or Hindi now.

But according to the YouTube official blog, all AI-generated content is clearly labeled using SynthID watermarks and content labels to maintain transparency.

  1. It’sBlog comment creation interesting that YouTube is rolling out Veo 3 Fast at 480p—feels like a smart way to prioritize speed and accessibility before pushing higher resolutions. The motion transfer and AI styles also open up new creative possibilities, especially for Shorts creators who rely on quick, eye-catching content. I’m curious to see how this will affect originality though, since remixing could blur the line between inspiration and replication.
